Fire Safety Unit

As an optional extra most of the FinBin^® litter bins can be equipped with fire safety equipment which includes a fire alarm and a mechanism for smothering the fire.

The fire alarm goes off as soon as smoke is forming. When flames appear a flap closes the aperture in approx. 30-60 second depending on the heat. The lack of oxygen extinguishes the fire. There might be some smouldering residue left which is put out by water or by other fire fighting equipment. When opening the bin beware of emerging hot gas or reawakening flames.

The fire safety equipment prevents the fire from spreading, but it does not prevent smoke formation.
